The appearance and practices they engage in are intimidating in the eyes of the beholder because they exude masculinity, toughness, and dominance. But do these people really convey fear to those unfamiliar with the world of fetishism, or is it not rather the stereotype, in our eyes, that does so?
Perhaps, like everyone else, they are just looking for approval, affection, companionship, or sex. And fetishism is the way to achieve it.
